PGHS Redirect Notice

Due to continued growth in the attendance area for Katherine Albiani Middle School and Pleasant Grove High School, any current elementary-aged student who has moved into the Katherine Albiani Middle School attendance area on or after July 1, 2016 will be redirected for 7th grade to either Joseph Kerr Middle School (JKMS) or T.R. Smedberg Middle School (TRSMS), based upon the location of their residence. This redirection is necessary because both Katherine Albiani Middle School and Pleasant Grove High School are projected to once again exceed their facilities capacities for the upcoming school year.

Summer school registration forms are now available.  Simply click on the posted link and follow the online instructions.  


Once you fill out the form online, a printable copy will be emailed to you.  You will print out the form, sign it, and turn it in to the counseling office.  


Once you turn it in to the counseling office, it will be timestamped and you will be enrolled in the class on a first come - first serve basis.  So don't delay.


The LAST day to submit a form to the counseling office is April 28th.

14 Eagle Tracksters traveled to Torrance, California to participate in the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays this past weekend. This was a greater number than the 11 we took last year - a sign of an improving program. Another sign? We came back with 3 SCHOOL RECORDS!!!

If there was one name to remember from our journey there, it would most certainly be that of Sophomore powerhouse Nick Myers... Nick was EVERYWHERE!!!

This tremendous young man competed in 3 events, and in doing so, scored a PR, going 1:58.64 in his Top 10 finish in the 800m. The other two events were the 4x800m Relay (with Sami Araya, Joe Blakely, and Andrew Jackson) and 4x1600m (with Sami Araya, Blake Miller, and Aidan Singh). Both of these performances were good for School Records. The 4x800m Relay also finished in the Top 10.

Other Top 10 Performances were turned in by Junior Eby Ifyefobi (Discus), Senior Josh Smith (Discus), and, while academic, our Men's 1600 SMR (Oliver Gates, Andrew Jackson, Brock Miller, and Joe Blakely) - which also set a school record.

I am TREMENDOUSLY proud of these kids. They gave their all out there and selflessly thought enough of their teammates to spend Easter morning traveling back.

Want to help your community and make money this summer?

 Apply to be a paid Teen Intern with the Arcade branch of the Sacramento Public Library!

 WHO CAN APPLY? Teens aged 13-18 with an open summer schedule and a reliable method of transportation. The bulk of your time will likely include two hours Tuesday-Friday afternoons in the Arcade library starting June 6 and ending August 4. You'll spend the last couple of weeks in May in training and may be asked to attend various outreach events.  We are particularly looking for teens who are detail-oriented; motivated; well-organized, especially with paperwork; and excited to meet new people and learn new skills. Based on what we'd like to accomplish with the Teen Interns program, priority will be given to applicants who are fluent in Arabic, Dari, Farsi, and/or Pashto. You do not need to have a Sacramento Public Library card to apply.


NOTE: Teen volunteers are welcome to apply; just know that, if you are selected as an intern, you will only be able to work as an intern during the Summer Reading Program (SRP) and will not be able to complete any volunteer hours during that time. You will be able to volunteer again after the Summer Reading Program has ended.


I'LL GET PAID FOR THIS? Teen Interns will be paid $500 apiece for their work at the conclusion of the SRP. Two (2) Teen Interns will be selected.


WHAT'S THE JOB? You'll be assisting with the Sacramento Public Library's Summer Reading Program at the Arcade branch (2443 Marconi Ave., Sacramento)! This means you'll be getting the word out to local communities and patrons about the Program, the library's services, and library events. You'll assist in translating and interpreting on behalf of the library; help out with the summer lunch program Tuesday-Friday; establish new relationships with community members; and help represent the library during outreach events at a variety of locations. You'll get to provide feedback on how the SRP works and what you experience as an Intern, as well as get a behind-the-scenes look at how the library operates. You'll also be responsible for gathering data related to the SRP and presenting on what you've learned at the conclusion of the SRP.


WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE? No problem! You'll be trained in how the SRP works and best practices for working with people who come into the library. This is a great opportunity to learn valuable workforce skills and get some on-the-job experience!
