Attached is some additional information just received bus regarding transportation to and from summer school.

For the most part bus pickup and drop off spots are the same as they were during the school year.

Remember that students in the PM session only need to find their own means of transportation to school, but will have bus service after school for the home trip.

RECAP FROM COACH GATES:

14 Eagle Tracksters traveled to Torrance, California to participate in the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays this past weekend. This was a greater number than the 11 we took last year - a sign of an improving program. Another sign? We came back with 3 SCHOOL RECORDS!!!

If there was one name to remember from our journey there, it would most certainly be that of Sophomore powerhouse Nick Myers... Nick was EVERYWHERE!!!

This tremendous young man competed in 3 events, and in doing so, scored a PR, going 1:58.64 in his Top 10 finish in the 800m. The other two events were the 4x800m Relay (with Sami Araya, Joe Blakely, and Andrew Jackson) and 4x1600m (with Sami Araya, Blake Miller, and Aidan Singh). Both of these performances were good for School Records. The 4x800m Relay also finished in the Top 10.

Other Top 10 Performances were turned in by Junior Eby Ifyefobi (Discus), Senior Josh Smith (Discus), and, while academic, our Men's 1600 SMR (Oliver Gates, Andrew Jackson, Brock Miller, and Joe Blakely) - which also set a school record.

Our other events:
- Women's 4x1600m (
Kaylie Pak, Bella Martinez, Grace Erbe, Rachel Victor)
- Katelyn
Cuneo - High Jump

I am TREMENDOUSLY proud of these kids. They gave their all out there and selflessly thought enough of their teammates to spend Easter morning traveling back.

Special thanks for Brock Miller, Alison DeWolfe, and Emily DeWolfe, who, though not selected, came anyway (spikes and uniforms in hand) and contributed!!

Oh, fairy tales! They rouse a nostalgic feeling and transport you to a happier, simpler time. Unless, of course, you read the fairy tales in their original forms.

The Grimm brothers collected over 209 fairy tales, so Don Zolidis inked a fast-paced, comedic piece that attempts to tell them all, in their original form, within an hour and a half!

But Zolidis does not stop there, this piece REQUIRES audience participation! If you plan to sit back and merely watch the performance, the narrators will get you!

With over 40 cast and crew members participating in this show, it will surely knock your socks off! Come laugh until you cry tears of joy!

General admission is $10 & $8 with ASB

Discount Show on Wed., March 22nd @ 4:30 for $8

Poster created by  Ms. Om's Studio 2-D AP student, Thuy. Did you notice how she included the fairy tale titles?!?

Mr. Tosta's AP Art class painted stunning backdrops--over 80 feet of art!!!

Mark your calendars! Don't miss out!

We have a very exciting opportunity for the spring semester at PGHS. We will have another CRC college course taught on our campus this spring. The class is great for students that are going directly to a 4-year college OR starting at a community college.  Nutrition 300 will be offered.  This course studies the basic science of human nutrition and its application to health and chronic diseases. It examines the sources and functions of micro- and macronutrients nutrients, including digestion, absorption, and transportation. Emphasis is placed on the health implications associated with dietary patterns, phytonutrient intake, consumption of whole foods, the impact of processing, and consequences of under and overconsumption. The course will also include topics such as nutrition as a world and consumer problem, weight loss, sports nutrition, food safety, and the diet-disease relationship, among others.

The class will begin January 17th and run through May 16th, and be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:50 PM. This course is a great way to start college credits and is CSU and UC transferable. The class is also FREE, with the exception of a 5.00 processing fee. Students will be responsible for payment of the course materials (book). To participate in this program a student must be 16 or have completed their sophomore year and have a cumulative GPA of 2.76.  Note: this class will NOT be included on your PGHS transcript, it starts your college transcript.  College courses look great on college applications!

If you are interested this class, it will be available on a first come-first served basis. Please sign up in the Career Center by Thursday, 11/10 . We will be calling all students in to do the application process together. All forms must be signed by a parent and then returned to the counseling office by November 18th.
