PGHS Activities Calendar

We have a very exciting opportunity for the spring semester at PGHS. We will have another CRC college course taught on our campus this spring. The class is great for students that are going directly to a 4-year college OR starting at a community college.  Nutrition 300 will be offered.  This course studies the basic science of human nutrition and its application to health and chronic diseases. It examines the sources and functions of micro- and macronutrients nutrients, including digestion, absorption, and transportation. Emphasis is placed on the health implications associated with dietary patterns, phytonutrient intake, consumption of whole foods, the impact of processing, and consequences of under and overconsumption. The course will also include topics such as nutrition as a world and consumer problem, weight loss, sports nutrition, food safety, and the diet-disease relationship, among others.

The class will begin January 17th and run through May 16th, and be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:50 PM. This course is a great way to start college credits and is CSU and UC transferable. The class is also FREE, with the exception of a 5.00 processing fee. Students will be responsible for payment of the course materials (book). To participate in this program a student must be 16 or have completed their sophomore year and have a cumulative GPA of 2.76.  Note: this class will NOT be included on your PGHS transcript, it starts your college transcript.  College courses look great on college applications!

If you are interested this class, it will be available on a first come-first served basis. Please sign up in the Career Center by Thursday, 11/10 . We will be calling all students in to do the application process together. All forms must be signed by a parent and then returned to the counseling office by November 18th.

PGHS Music Program is hosting the annual Fall Festival and Holiday Bazaar featuring more than 40 outstanding crafters, artists and home-based retailers. Shoppers looking to stretch their holiday shopping dollar, as well as looking to find unique gift items will be impressed by the quality and variety of items for sale. The Bazaar is inside and will take place rain or shine. Ample free parking. This event benefits all the music and related programs of both Pleasant Grove High School and Katherine Albiani Middle School. Don't miss the Jazz Band Concert at 11 am too!  There are still openings for vendors. Please contact PGHSBandBoosters@gmail.com for more info.

Mr. Guillen needs to know if you are going by this Friday the 21st, so that he can let CSUS know how many students will be attending. They also will be providing lunch.

It is extremely important to attend the meeting on the 27 of October, to get important information about the CSUS field trip. There will be no cost to attend just keep your grades up so that your teachers will sign the field trip form.
